Charming hotel in the medieval village of Azzate
In the medieval village of Azzate you will find a delightful 4* hotelcharming hotel magnificently renovated: the Locanda dei Mai Intees. Each of its 12 rooms and suites is decorated in a unique style, all harmoniously integrated into the building enriched with frescoes, antique furniture and modern technology.
The Locanda dei Mai Intees consists of a central building around which are the tower, the courtyard with the ancient well and a beautiful veranda. This enchanting four-star hotel has a dining room with original 15th-century frescoes that, thanks to careful restoration work, have been brought back to light as well as its
16th-century fireplace.
The various parts that compose it, which over time have merged together, represent a splendid example of a medieval village: all the life of the village revolved around the structure, which in fact housed the pharmacy, the post office, the prisons...
Restaurant
The Locanda restaurant was established in 1989 and its cuisine bears the clear imprint of the famous Michelin-starred chef Guatiero Marchesi, a close family friend, who passed on his art to his young son, Paolo, who grew up in his restaurant kitchen. The inn's kitchens are also located in a historically important part, on the lower floor of the building where prisons were developed in the Middle Ages.
The restaurant quickly acquired a great reputation, becoming a meeting point for an elite and international clientele. It offers typical regional dishes accompanied by an important wine selection.
Its small but intimate bar, completely furnished in wood, is located in the premises that formerly housed the post office.
The Sala degli Affreschi originally housed the village pharmacy. A large classical frieze in two colours, grey and terracotta, was found on two of its walls, while a huge 16th-century fireplace stands out on the back wall. The room can seat up to forty people.
The Sala delle Armi, on the other hand, is used for corporate and private dinners, an ancient and elegant setting for up to twelve people.
An additional room is dedicated to business meetings: its discreet and cosy atmosphere makes it the ideal place for high-level meetings.
History
Originally, the buildings of the Locanda were a small 15th-century medieval hamlet that included the small square, the post office, the pharmacy and a grain store. The buildings were brought together by the then village pharmacist, the ancestor of the current owners, and transformed into a single country residence.
Mrs Carlotta Pomati and her son Paolo Crosta are the current owners, fifth-generation descendants, and have skilfully converted it into a charming four-star hotel with every comfort.
The original charm has remained unchanged in its various parts, including the tower, the courtyard with the ancient well and the veranda. Admirable are the original 15th-century frescoes in the dining room and the 16th-century fireplace, which have been brought back to life thanks to careful restoration work.
